The taste was great. But the middle fell in. My next time I will add a small amount of baking soda and some cornstarch to hold it together better so it’s not so gooey.

Discovered this recipe a couple years ago. We love it. Must confess to not following directions first time. Just had ingredients ready and used normal order….so melted the butter, but didn’t use pan on stove etc. Still turned out ok. But the 2nd time I followed “the rules” and they turned out fabulous. Just made some a few days ago. Soo chewy and almost caramel flavored. As a chocoholic these compete with brownies and chocolate chip cookies any day. ( Plus I used Gluten free flour and dairy free plant based butter )

The only thing that had great taste AND texture were the edges. Unfortunately, the rest of the bar (ie, the entire interior) sunk so badly that even the next day they seemed underdone. I keep a thermometer in the oven to ensure I’m at the proper temperature but still had to bake them for 26 minutes. The edges were golden and the center looked just set. I’m not sure how the author got the bars to look cooked through on her photo. I’m giving it 2 stars because maybe others like their bars to seem undercooked. One plus was flavor- quite excellent.

Most ovens bake completely different. Recipes are a guide, sometimes you have to make a minor adjustment but you don’t need to be mostly rude.

Read comments, so baked a bit longer, did a pinch of Maldon salt on top. I cut back sugar and coconut and will continue to play around: maybe unsweetened and full.sugar… thanks for sharing. Prob baked about 10 mins more. ♡

bake time is not correct
Had to leave in for 30 minutes not 20
I don’t understand why directions are mostly always incorrect
Put a recipe out on internet correctly should be a rule

Great chewy, delicious recipe but I definitely have to bake 35-40 and it’s then perfect. To me it’s similar to baking brownies.
