I made your recipe but it was so greasy on the bottom of the toffee. I had to paper towel it off before I could serve it. Any explanation why?

In the recipe it states 1/4 + 2Tbs corn syrup. Is it 1/4 cup corn syrup + 2Tbs? Or 1/4 Tbs? The recipe is not clear. Thanks
